The summer months are just magical, aren’t they? We spend more time outside, and less time on Netflix. Not to the mention, August sunsets seem to be the icing on the cake. Even though the weather will slowly start to turn, this is fortunately the very best time to enjoy your late summer outdoor oasis for a few more weeks. With fall around the corner, here are ways that you can maximize your time outside before the frigid temps hit.

SEATING
With people still hoping to make the most of outdoor gatherings, having enough comfortable seating for everyone is critical. From conversation sets with comfortable pillows, to cafe tables, your outdoor oasis should be an extension of the indoors. This will also help to encourage outdoor dining.

FIRE PITS
If you get your outdoor firepit in order now, while the weather is still decent, you will be able to enjoy it all winter long. With so many fire pits on the market, the possibilities are endless in terms of style, design, and budget. Marking off an area that allows room for a few chairs around the fire will ensure a cozy setting for late night conversations with friends and family, regardless of the temperatures. We are in love with this federal blue adirondack set.

BLANKETS
As we transition into fall, chilly nights are on the horizon. Having cozy blankets out on your rocking chairs or lounge chairs will invite your guests to stay a little longer, even if there is a chill in the air. Alternatively, outdoor heaters are much appreciated when autumn weather really starts to hit.

FALL PLANTERS
Swapping out your summer planter with fall annuals will keep your outdoor oasis inviting. Keeping your planters fresh with seasonally appropriate plants will give off a sense of intention, allowing your guests to feel welcome. Greenery, and bronze, purple, or yellow colors do well at the end of summer. My personal favorite plants this time of year are sweet potato vines; which thrive in both summer and fall.

LIGHTING
Globe lights, lanterns, and candles will not only help your porch or patio feel cozy, but it will add natural warmth too. It sets a mood that will have guests wanting to stay all night. Clumping several candles together will create a gorgeous ambiance. If you’re in a windy location, battery operated candles may reduce any added stress while entertaining.

Taking the time now to prepare for the weeks ahead will ensure that you can continue to entertain, even as it gets a little cooler. With an outdoor oasis fit for late summer and early fall gatherings, you may also want to get the guest room ready…because your friends and family may never want to leave!
