Happy Wednesday! I don’t know about you but it feels like it’s still Monday in our house today. My husband and I are getting ready to leave on a parents only trip and we are in full force, last minute  packing mode. I have been wanting to get away again (just the two of us) for what seems like ages but now that it is finally here, my heart hurts thinking about leaving the kids. I have gone on several trips without them before, but each time leaving never gets easier for me and I instantly wish we could pack them up and bring them along. Please tell me I’m not the only parent who feels this way before they leave for a trip sans kids?  I guess it’s just one of those inevitable paradoxes of being a parent.

Today I wanted to share with you the work of one of my favorite local interior designers, Kelley Proxmire. She is based out of Bethesda, MD and has been featured in everything from Better Homes and Gardens to House Beautiful.  She designs classic, elegant spaces that are richly layered and are a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary design. Her rooms always have a distinct air of luxury but still feel incredibly relatable and welcoming. Kelley Proxmire describes her style as “tailored traditional” and I couldn’t agree more. She has an incredible range and makes adding pops of bright color into a space look effortless.  In fact, she even takes it a step further and uses color to improve and accentuate the flow of a room.  She is also hiring right now, so if anyone in the area has the experience, you should absolutely apply! I would submit my resume in a heartbeat but seeing as I have no professional design experience, I will continue to learn from her from afar.

So that being said, pull up a seat, pour (another) cup of coffee, and let yourself procrastinate just a little this morning. I warn you though, once you start looking through her Instagram account and her portfolio you will get lost in her work. It is simply that beautiful. Enjoy!

This mudroom is one of my all-time favorites. The matching Janata Bazaar roman shades and wallpaper from Thibaut’s Caravan Collection make my heart skip a beat!

Not only is this a fabulous blue and white space, the texture and color she adds to the back of the built-ins is gorgeous

I’m clearly on a round table skirt kick…

This space is just lovely and the re-finished secretary makes it cozy and inviting

This is a perfect example of Proxmire’s mastery of creating a sense of flow in a space. I also love how the pops of green bring a sense of youth and liveliness to this room

This Robert Allen upholstered sofa is what sofa dreams are made of and her use of artwork and decorative accents to add warmth and brown undertones to room are delightful

This library from the 2017 DC Design House is grandeur at it’s best, but still exudes warmth and beckons you to snuggle up with a book and cup of tea

It’s amazing what a pop of turquoise in the secretary and the coordinating cushion bring to this piece!

Blue on blue on blue…

This bedroom is perfection. Enough said.

Another home run with bold and unexpected color combinations and patterns

Even now, I still dream of having a pink bathroom

One very lucky little girl’s room. Thibaut’s Tanzania wallpaper has always been a favorite of mine and this room proves that it’s fantastic in every color!

Have a great rest of the week and I will try to share pictures of our trip on my InstaStories if you want to see what we are up to!
